Sales and Business Development Manager

Job Description

Develop relationships with existing and prospective customers to drive sales to the organization by responding to each customer’s unique needs and desires.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES

  • Master all aspects of company operations and customer service / equipment including a strong degree of technical knowledge
  • Present, promote and sell equipment using solid industry knowledge
  • Establish, develop and maintain positive business and customer relationships
  • Actively develop leads through existing relationships and reach out to customer leads through coordinated email campaigns, calls, social media, references, existing company relationships, attending relevant industry conferences, and any other productive means
  • Maintain current knowledge of product and service trends including new and discontinued equipment models, ability to service products, market pricing for new & used equipment models, parts pricing for refurbishment, contractor costs for refurbishment, and equipment/parts modularity as it affects pricing
  • Manage customer relations and negotiate prices where applicable
  • Achieve agreed upon sales targets and outcomes within schedule
  • Coordinate sales effort with team members and other departments
  • Supply management with reports on customer needs, problems, interests, competitive activities, and potential for new products and services
  • Ownership of entire sales process: from generating leads to establishing relationships, following up on equipment sales, and soliciting post-sale feedback from customers to best understand needs and further sales opportunities

KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITIES

  • Highly developed interpersonal, organizational and communication skills
  • Expert level of sales experience within biopharmaceutical, medical, or other industrial/technical industry
  • Strong sense of ambition, self-motivation and self-discipline
  • Willingness to work beyond normal business hours when necessary
  • Willingness to travel to meet customers in-person
  • Strong attention to detail in a highly nuanced and niche industry
  • A strong commitment to exceeding customer expectations
  • Computer literacy, experience with sales/CRM programs

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION

  • BS/BS preferred
  • 10 years proven sales success in biopharmaceutical industry preferred
  • Equipment sales: 5 years (required)
  • Business Development: 5 years (required)
  • Willingness to Travel: 25% (required)
