Title: Procurement Specialist

Function: The Purchaser will provide procurement support to the site and individual departments, including evaluation, negotiation, cost-effective procurement, and support as required.

Primary Responsibilities and Essential Functions of the Position:

  • Identify, evaluate, and manage vendors
  • Obtain quotations and negotiate for required materials, services and create written summaries for review/approval by respective departments
  • Provide cost and availability information to applicable departments
  • Assist SAP users with creation of purchase requisitions
  • Process/review purchase requisitions / purchase orders within SAP for accuracy and correct documentation
  • Ensure timeliness of procurement for critical orders as required by departments
  • Continuously review/resolve open purchase orders/requisitions
  • Provide departments with order confirmations
  • Ensure internal/external regulatory requirements are followed
  • Initiate process improvement suggestions to ensure best practices
  • Review & provide management with key reports on the procurements (Monthly/Quarterly/Annually)

Skills and Abilities Required:

  • In-depth understanding of procure-to-pay cycle
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
  • Ability to organize and prioritize tasks
  • Ability to work in a cross-functional environment
  • Timely completion of responsibilities
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal)

Minimum Education and Experience Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in supply chain, materials management, or related field
  • Minimum of two (2) years of directly related experience in purchasing, or inventory management, preferably in a specialty chemical, food, or pharmaceutical manufacturing environment
  • Experience and proficiency within MRP/ERP systems, preferably SAP

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • APICS certification (CSCP or CPIM), CPP certification, or CPM certification
