Job Overview
The Plant Controller is responsible for planning and coordinating plant budget and business planning activities, general ledger management, month-end close and reconciliation, inventory reporting, and ensuring payable/receivable support in alignment with company practices.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Oversee and maintain all financial operations including inventory/cost accounting, revenue recognition, plant/department cost budgets, billing, accounts receivable and accounts payable;
- Manage month-end closing and prepare internal monthly financial statements;
- Prepare forecasts of income statements;
- Analyze variances and communicate explanations to the Leadership team with recommended actions;
- Track capital expenditures with Return on Investment (ROI) and fixed asset maintenance;
- Maintain relevant tax information (Income, Property, Sales, etc.);
- Create and maintain cost budgets and provide leadership for department adherence;
- Conduct monthly financial review with General Manager and senior management, identify areas to improve productivity, increase efficiencies, manage projects, and reduce cost;
- Establish and maintain program for material and finished goods standard costs;
- Review and maintain costing system including routings and standard costs;
- Evaluate purchase price variance accounts supporting the Purchasing team;
- Review and assess monthly cycle count reports for variances and ensure material and unsaleable inventory is reserved as appropriate;
- Lead site cost savings program;
- Follow and enforce cGMP guidelines and processes as established in department SOPs;
- Perform other duties as deemed necessary
Requirements/ Skills
- 5+ years professional accounting experience. Previous general ledger accounting and process manufacturing experience is preferable;
- 1-3 years supervisory experience preferred;
- CPA is preferred;
- Post Graduate MBA or MACC degree is preferable;
- Strong leadership and management skills;
- Previous experience in a manufacturing and/or contract manufacturing environment preferred;
- Experience with JD Edwards is preferred;
- Excellent interpersonal, written and communication skills;
- Strong knowledge of MS Office and Microsoft Applications;
- Strong working knowledge and experience with spreadsheets and word processing;
- Ability to maintain confidential information
- Ability to deal with periodic levels of highly stressful situations associated with handling difficult issues and challenges;
- Good communication skills to perform the essential functions of the job as they relate to comprehension of laws, regulations, standards, documents and other internal and external communications.
