Job Description
Main Duties & Responsibilities
- Manage the product development process across all departments
- Complete customer projects as assigned;
- Manage multiple application projects and update project managers of project status;
- Develop flavor and sweetener systems for customers that coincide with their cost parameters and performance expectations;
- Assess the applicability of new flavor ingredients (i.e. sweetness enhancers and sodium reducers) and determine effectiveness and potential new and existing product applications;
- Conduct sensory testing in order to ensure product performance;
- Setup costing templates with base formulas and material pricing;
- Size bottles, scoops, lids, bags, box, and other packaging as needed;
- Setup formula and packaging specifications, including testing specifications;
- Enter raw materials and formula testing specifications into LIMS;
- Assist with materials sourcing, including gathering samples and documentation;
- Taste and approve production blends as needed;
- Work directly with customers when needed in order to achieve quick project turnaround;
- Manage product development reports as defined on the organization chart;
- Follow cGMP guidelines and processes as established in department SOPs;
- Perform other duties as deemed necessary.
Requirements and Skills
- Bachelor’s degree (B.S. in Food Science or related area); along with a minimum of 3 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience in product development;
- A proactive leader able to manage multiple projects and personnel;
- Has strong analytical skills with demonstrated technical competence and initiative ;
- Basic knowledge of flavors and flavor applications;
- Ability to manage multiple projects and drive deadlines;
- Works effectively with people from varying functions and levels;
- Excellent verbal, written, and oral communication;
- Flexibility to travel approximately 25%;
- Knowledge of database software; order processing systems; Project Management software; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.
