The VP Facilities is responsible for ensuring all manufacturing and facility assets are effective through establishment and oversight of engineering processes, with oversight of internal / external team(s) including new construction, equipment sourcing / install, facility & grounds maintenance and improvements, new / revised regulatory requirements (state, federal, industry) and manufacturing/process engineering.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the overall capital expenditure process for the company

  • Manage good relationships when negotiating contracts, agreements and or purchases

  • Identify, research, implement and oversee capital expenditure projects to completion

  • Champion the implementation of new equipment and facility assets to ensure proper design, installation, testing, documentation, safety, compliance, training, and utilization

  • Provide guidance and direction for the use of the company’s CMMS program (eMaint) to monitor asset management and to ensure compliance with internal SOP’s, cGMP’s, and with local and regulatory requirements

  • Ensure accurate maintenance and updates to the CMMS to reflect changes in equipment status due to design, installation, inspections, repairs, upgrades and modifications, changeovers, etc.

  • Monitor the use of the CMMS programs, use internal data to identify equipment reliability trends MTTR (mean time to repair), MTBR (mean time between failures), PMC (preventative maintenance compliance), and all other related measurements

  • Monitor purchasing and MRO parts inventory, internal requests and work orders through the CMMS (eMaint) ensuring accuracy in inventory

  • Set effective KPI targets and monitor progress

  • Identify and implement metrics relating to manufacturing support

  • Implements new methods and procedures designed to improve operations, minimize operating costs, and effect greater utilization of assets, labor, and materials

  • Identify skill and knowledge gaps and address by promoting training activities

  • Optimize productivity and workflow by PFMEAs, RCAs and ROI analysis

  • Troubleshoot and maintain equipment control systems (PLC, HMI, VFD, servo, etc.) where needed to assist maintenance technicians/engineers

  • Oversees and participates in the recruitment, hiring, and training of all engineering and maintenance employees

  • Provide strong leadership and technical expertise to maintain existing procedures and drive continuous improvement

  • Foster a continuous improvement culture empowering employees and driving waste out of the operations

  • Promote a safety focused culture, encourage employee involvement in safety programs, and address safety issues in the workplace

  • Instill the mindset of all employees are responsible for supporting and promoting a Commitment to Quality

  • Promote organized departments via 5S, document control, asset part inventory storage, workflow and information pass downs/effective communication

  • Monitor department resource management to meet or exceed labor budgets while ensuring work schedules are effective for high quality and safety

  • Must have a collaborative management style with the willingness to promote a team environment

Requirements

  • BS in Engineering or related field preferred; 10+ yrs. related experience in lieu of university degree, or 5+ yrs. related experience plus a technical degree/certification will be considered

  • 5+ Years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry within manufacturing environments

  • Knowledge of 5S Systems, GMP and FDA/NSF regulations

  • Strong knowledge in safety compliance (state, federal and industry) along with the ability to train and be accountable for departments requirements to follow and support these actions

  • Proficiency using CCMS, MP2, MS Windows and Office particularly Excel
