Job Description
The Logistics Specialist is responsible for coordinating and overseeing warehousing, logistics, and inventory management activities in support of operations. This role works cross functionally with warehouse personnel, internal business units, customer service representatives, suppliers, and clients to ensure the timely and accurate movement of materials. The Logistics Specialist utilizes ERP systems and data tools to monitor inventory levels, investigate discrepancies, and maintain accurate records of material movements, inventory transactions, and stock levels while ensuring alignment with operational and regulatory requirements. Additionally, this position coordinates and oversees the distribution of high sensitivity pharmaceutical materials requiring controlled handling, storage, and transportation conditions.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Coordinate the distribution activities of final pharmaceutical product and supporting samples/ materials, including process development materials, analytical testing/ stability samples, retains, and investigational materials between company facilities, client sites, testing laboratories, clinical depots, distribution centers, and patient locations.
- Facilitate the movement of materials into cGMP manufacturing areas, including lot identification, inventory segregation, cross functional coordination to resolve shortages or procurement delays, and physical delivery to manufacturing operations.
- Provide advanced training to Logistics and Warehouse personnel on material/inventory management responsibilities
- Determine inventory disposition in accordance with regulatory and internal requirements and advise on associated financial impacts.
- Utilize SAP and Microsoft Office applications to support material allocation, resolve material discrepancies and supply issues, and support quality events.
- Provide direction to Logistics and Warehouse personnel concerning inventory issues, including but not limited to UOM, Expiration Dating, Labeling, Consumption and SAP Transactions
- Ensure compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and applicable transportation and material handling regulations, including DOT, IATA, and RCRA regulations.
- Own and execute Quality events, including Deviations, CAPAs, and Change Controls, ensuring timely investigation, documentation, and closure
- Drive efforts for process improvements, applying lean principles to streamline supply chain processes and increase operational efficiency
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in relevant competency
- Advanced knowledge of SAP or other ERP with a working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite applications.
- 1-3 Years experience in a regulated industry
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
