Job Description
Major Duties and ResponsibilitiesEssential Tasks
• Direct and manage all departmental functions including procurement, inventory control, logistics, and assigned supply chain operations.
• Draft and revise contracts for direct/indirect materials, operational equipment and facility infrastructure. Facilitate the RFP process to secure best contractual outcome
• Negotiate vendor contracts and its subsidiaries considering quality, price, performance, and other relevant factors.
• Track contract compliance and develop risk mitigation plans for compliance variations. Ensure contracts and associated documents are maintained in an accessible manner.
• Provide strategic cross-functional collaboration with Sales, Operations, Quality and Customer Service to ensure team alignment and execute strategic planning initiatives.
• Supervise personnel in the areas of purchasing and warehousing operations and in the assigned supply chain operations.
• Develop and manage departmental budgets accordingly. Maintain an accurate inventory control system and process.
• Establish annual goals and objectives
• Coordinate periodic physical inventory counts and perform necessary reconciliations.
• Monitor and respond to manufacturer or FDA recall of inventory items.
• Maintain compliance with all regulatory requirements and ethical standards related to procurement. Maintain appropriate Supply Chain metrics in line with industry standards.
• Research, evaluate and source direct/raw materials/vendors to build supply chain depth.
• Work closely with external suppliers and internal cross functional teams to proactively identify opportunities for implementation of cost savings, lead time reductions, quality enhancements, and overall improved service levels.
• Collaborate with Engineering and supplier quality to manage product life cycle issues to ensure minimal impact from obsolescence or change.
• Work in conjunction with Engineering to optimize the equipment maintenance & repair program, including Vendor contracts, contract consolidation and expanding in house repair capabilities.
• Maintain and enforce compliance with the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and policies for all Corporate Materials & Services functions.
• Coordinate distribution and buying function activities with departments, ensuring timely ordering and delivery of products that meet or exceed the department’s expectations.
• Coordinate with the industry’s group purchasing organization(s) to participate in those contracts that are in the best interest of the organization.
• Interview and make recommendations for hiring, terminating, promoting, demoting, orienting, evaluating, counseling, and salary changes for departmental personnel.
• Attend annual industry supply chain seminar, and other meetings or events as determined necessary. Performs other duties as assigned.
Education
• Requires a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited four-year college or university.
• Licenses and/or Certifications
• Valid United States Driver’s License
• APICS or ISM Certification preferred
Experience
• Requires seven or more years of materials and supply chain function experience.
• Requires three or more years of management experience at the Director level in an organization of similar size and scope.
• Requires inventory management and procurement systems experience.
