Job Description
Our client, a leading service provider to pharmaceutical, biotech, and manufacturing facilities across the country, is looking for a Depot Engineer to join their Edgewater, Maryland site. The Depot Engineer will rebuild, refurbish and repair laboratory instruments, specifically centrifuges, and related parts for their customers. The Depot Engineer will also refurbish electric motors, vacuum pumps, and other mechanical/electromechanical parts.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the depot repair center to support refurbishment and repair of parts and components of electromechanical laboratory instruments
- Study designs, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample parts to determine proper assembly and rework requirements
- Follow established procedures to repair drive motors, vacuum pumps, and other mechanical parts
- Create new procedures to repair drive motors, vacuum pumps and other mechanical assemblies
- Basic manual machining of parts
- Analyze part failures to determine cause
- Verify conformance of finished work-piece to specifications, using measuring and inspection tools as necessary
- Create tools and fixtures for servicing different assemblies.
- Perform routine maintenance tasks on machines as required.
- Confer with technical leaders and field service engineers, inventory personnel, or others to resolve refurbishment problems.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area and maintain all equipment, to like new appearance, according to maintenance plans and established procedures
- Maintain a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating in a manner so that you get along with customers, clients, co-workers and management.
- Continue to grow lean knowledge and use the tools to identify and assist with continuous improvement.
- Ensure that safe work practices are followed and adhered to.
- Create and properly maintain documentation to build company’s knowledge base.
- Accurately record service reports, time entries, and the use of parts.
- Follow Company and customer on-site procedures, including QMPs, ISO 9001 processes, customer GxP protocols, safety requirements, and SOP’s.
- Contribute your technical expertise to troubleshoot instrument issues and identify additional opportunities to improve lab instrument repairs and refurbishment.
- Assist in refining repair and testing procedures as well as improving technical documentation and training curriculum.
- Assist in research and development to expand service capabilities and parts network.
Key Qualifications
- You have completed a technical degree. Preferred
- 3-5+ years of relevant experience
- You can commute daily to the Annapolis/Edgewater, MD depot.
